Tulum is our favorite place in the world for many reasons, but high up on the list is our collaboration with Los Amigos De La Esquina (LADLE), a local nonprofit that hosts fantastic activities for native Mayan and local Mexican kids. It is an amazing non profit organization to visit and volunteer in Tulum!

LADLE runs activities 5 days a week for kids ages 5-13 all based on art, wellbeing, environmental consciousness, and life skills. They also have really wonderful wellbeing program for adults where they run yoga class in collaboration with Om Collective (a community yoga program in Tulum), sound healing, ice baths, dance classes and more!

The kids do everything from having their own rock band, to yoga, business classes, bird watching and anything else you can think of.

Once a volunteer came and taught a boxing class that inspired one of our kids so much that had her mom sign her up for boxing classes at a local studio and has gone 3x a week for the last 2 years and even signed up for matches all over the state!

The organization is wonderfully inclusive and does not charge any fee for the kids to join in on their activities. If you are traveling in Tulum an afternoon with LADLE is an awesome way to get a real sense of the magic of community. The founder of Queerness Experiences has had the greatest privilege to have been on the committee since 2017 and many of the babysitters of Anana Babysitting Tulum have been extremely involved for years. One of them even created a musical and the main role was played by a LADLE student!

The kids from LADLE  are wonderfully curious, excited and loving kids and it is an absolute privilege to work with them and watch each one of them grow.

In 2021, the org inaugurated a community center made using sustainable materials and made a mural surrounding the entire building using more than 100,000 bottle caps!

It is an amazing place to spend an afternoon, getting to know a wonderful side of Tulum that is filled with love.
